Tips for Planning a Baby Shower in Boston
While we often share wedding planning tips on our blog, this post is all about planning for those little bundles of joy! Baby showers are frequently hosted in our restaurant and ballroom, so we have a little insight to share. If you're planning a celebration before the arrival of a little one, we hope you find this information helpful.
Check with the parents-to-be before planning a shower
While this isn't a planning tip per se, it comes in handy. Baby celebrations are all about what the parents would like before their lives change forever. Some opt-out of baby showers and choose a baby welcoming party instead. At these lovely events, friends and family all meet the baby at the same time. Other soon-to-be moms and dads have a party with their nearest and dearest as their last hurrah before becoming parents. It's totally up to the future mom and dad. Let's face it; soon it's going to be all about the baby!
When to plan a baby shower?
Baby showers are typically scheduled six to eight weeks before a baby's due date. After deciding on an event date with the parents-to-be, send out the invites four to six weeks prior to the shower. Right before the invitations go out, remind mom and dad to register for gifts.
Who hosts a baby shower?
Anyone can plan a baby shower—future godparents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends. Err on the side of caution and check with the mom-to-be about her expectations.
Who to invite?
Baby celebrations were once women-only events. Now they're more inclusive, and co-ed baby showers are quite common. Ask the future mommy and see what she'd prefer. You can also go with a ladies-only event and ask the soon-to-be daddy, uncles, grandfathers, and other important bros to join at the end.
Choose a theme
When choosing a baby shower theme, the host sometimes goes with decorations that mirror the baby's nursery. Others pick something entirely different (but tasteful). Once more, it's probably wise to ask the mommy what she envisions for this special day. I came across these trending baby shower themes that may spark ideas:
Sunflowers baby shower
Boss Baby (animated movie)
Harry Potter
Winnie the Pooh
Dinosaurs
Woodlands
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Teddy Bears
Planning a Boston area baby shower?
When seeking a baby shower venue in the Boston area, people are delighted to hear that Venezia can accommodate small and large events. Smaller events often take place in the semi-private dining room within our restaurant, and larger ones happen in Salon A or B of our ballroom. The photos above were taken just a few weeks ago at an adorable baby shower in our ballroom. It was such a gorgeous sunny day to honor the parents to be.
